Theodore R Spalding left his earthly home on December 31,2011.

He was born July 5, 1918 to the late Roscoe Spalding and Mable Eaton Spalding in Deerfield Township, Michigan. An infant son, David Lynn, also preceded him in death. In 1956 he married his wife Patricia. She and his beloved dog Coco survive him.

Ted graduated from Fowlerville High School; He proudly served in World War II in the Navy. He retired from Bent Tube after 50 years of service. Ted was an avid golfer, managed two holes in one, and was hard to beat on the greens. He was a gifted woodworker and in his earlier years loved to hunt, fish and boat.

Ted was blessed with four children, Roger Covert, Theodore Jr. (Suzanne) Spalding, Kim (Judy) Sandin, and Shay (David) Gaffey. Ted leaves many beloved grandchildren, Stephanie (Derek) Dombrowski, T. Richard (Belinda) Spalding, Michael (Christina) Gaffey, Wade (Amy) Spalding, Kristy (Brad) Placido, Matthew (Michelle) Sandin, Scott (Jennifer) Spalding, and DJ (Mary) Gaffey. Great grandchildren he was honored to know are Hannah and Isabel Dowbrowski, Stephanie, Sophia, Saraphine, Andrew, Theodore Luke, and Abigail Spalding, Justin and Joel Placido, Deone and Lexxi Gaffey. In addition he is survived by his sister Betty Rice, along with several nephews and a niece.

Memorial services will be at his church, Heart of the Shepherd Lutheran Church, 228 N. Burkhart Rd. in Howell, Michigan on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 11:00 am.  Family will receive friends and family prior starting at 10:00 am. Pastor Galen Grulke will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the church.
