Job market conditions "more positive" PDF Print E-mail

December 9, 2011--
Since work began to revitalize our state in January, significant progress has been made and the country is taking notice. Earlier this year I shared with you that Fitch improved Michigan's credit rating outlook to positive. Now, Gallup's Job Creation Index, which is a percentage-based comparison of work force expansion against work force reduction, stands at +17 in the Midwest, suggesting that job market conditions are becoming more and more positive in our region.

In addition, Michigan was named best in the nation for job growth and ranked second by Bloomberg Economic Evaluation for economic health. All of these honors have been awarded due to our new flat tax code, balanced budget, which eliminates debt and spending reductions. I'm extremely proud that we are being recognized for our work and look forward to continuing efforts to revitalize Michigan.
