Opportunities to visit PDF Print E-mail

Feb. 21, 2009

Livingston County residents will have two convenient opportunities to visit with me on Friday, Feb. 27.

I will conduct office hours from 10 to 11 a.m. at Unadilla Township Hall, 126 Webb St., in downtown Gregory; and from 2 to 3 p.m. at Heavenly Scent Herb Farm, 13730 White Lake Road, in Tyrone Township.

My office hour locations are at opposite ends of the district to make it easier for everyone to attend. I always welcome the chance to talk with my constituents because it gives me a better understanding of the issues important to them.

Residents who are unable to attend the regular office hours also can contact me with a question or concern. People can call toll free at 1-866-828-4863 or reach me via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

This week, I co-sponsored legislation to prohibit anonymous campaign robocalls in Michigan.

House Bill 4232 requires automated phone messages to clearly state the identity of the person or group paying for the call. The bill is similar to laws regulating television campaign commercials.

Anonymous robocalls have tainted today's political landscape. They are a cheap and irresponsible way to run a campaign. People can record whatever they want on these calls without taking responsibility for its contents. Michigan voters also don't want to be interrupted at home by an endless stream of spam phone calls. This legislation would deter these types of intrusions.

Those who violate the proposed law would face a $5,000 fine or a year in jail.
