New Video Reveals Howell Is “Not a Shopper’s Typical Haunt” Living up to its “Shop Different…Shop Downtown Howell” marketing campaign, Downtown Howell has once again proven itself to be far from the ‘normal’ Michigan downtown. A new video about the area possibly proves it to be more about the ‘paranormal.’ HOWELL, Michigan (June 11, 2010) – When this clearly ‘Different” little town commissioned a second video as a follow-up to their successful “Downtown Howell, MI” video, little did anyone know that said vid would feature ‘unexplained’ happenings which some consider the product of paranormal activity. As a video crew set out to document the historical architecture this unique, friendly and cool downtown offers (Howell is, indeed, a designated Michigan Cool City), they encountered a bit of paranormal pandemonium that has some local officials a bit perplexed. “I don’t quite know what to believe,” reports Nathan Voght, Director of Howell Main Street and Downtown Development Authority. “We liked the first video these folks made for us a lot, but I just don’t know what in this new one is real and what is maybe a product of their ‘creativity,’ if you catch my drift.” The video’s producers maintain that the appearance of missing heiress Karla Von Impe throughout the video was “purely accidental – kind of freakish, really.” Von Impe, whose mysterious sixties disappearance shook the town, is said to appear in a number of the video’s scenes. Voght wonders what effect this video might have on upcoming summer events such as Howell's Pink Party, Balloonfest, and the Howell Melon Festival, though he is clearly not too concerned. “We’re known here for both our spirit, and our spirits,” he smiles. The video is the second release in a series of programs that highlight downtown Howell’s merchants, great shopping and dining, history, and the Main Street approach to revitalization. The first webisode was released last summer in preparation for a “Michigan Downtowns” video competition.
