Thomas E. Braun, age 73, of Fowlerville, died Sunday January 29, 2012 at home.

He was born April 11, 1938 to Edward Clinton and Luella E. (Goll) Braun. He was a 1957 graduate of Fowlerville High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of Fowlerville First United Methodist Church, Rotary, the Commercial Club, Fowlerville Agriculture Society, managed the Fowlerville Fair for over 20 years, was President of Michigan Association of Fairs & Exhibitions, served on the Livingston County Board of Social Services and loved trains. Tom married Dawn Wyzlic in 1967 at Fowlerville First United Methodist Church.  He owned Braun Cleaners, which was founded in 1954 by his parents, retiring in 2005.

Surviving are his wife: Dawn, three children: Kurt (Kristin) of Northville, Keri (Kevin) Kater of Oxford, Kami (Chris) Kargel of Fowlerville, six grandchildren: Tim Braun, Greg Braun, Makenna Kater, Peyton Kater, Ryan Kargel and Grant Kargel, Sister: Virginia Lehman of Kansas and brother: Gregory (Cathy) Braun of Williamston.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Fowlerville First United Methodist Church with Kathy DeForest officiating.

Donna (Dansby) Heminger PDF Print E-mail

Donna (Dansby) Heminger, passed away January 28, 2012 at the age of 100.

She was born April 28, 1911, the oldest of six children born to Christopher W. and Medora (Jewell) Dansby. Donna was born near Perry, Michigan, but grew up in Locke Township near Bell Oak where she went to school. She graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1930. After a year at Ingham County Normal she taught in rural schools in both Ingham and Livingston Counties. She was an avid genealogist and local historian, and was a long time member of the Mid-Michigan Genealogical Society and an honorary member of the Ingham County Genealogical Society.

Surviving are her two children: Chris William (Linda) Heminger and Janice Dale Heminger, both of Williamston, granddaughter Cortney (Robert) Brenner and their son, Ty Brenner of Traverse City, Michigan, sister Norma (Carl) Harter of Jackson, brother, Richard (Marion) Dansby of Bear Lake, sister-in-law Dorothy (Ted) Dansby of Williamston and numerous nephews, nieces and their families. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years W. Dale Heminger, her parents and three brothers, Theron “Ted” (Dorothy) Dansby (2001), Christopher D. “Spike” Dansby (1978) and his wife, Madeline (1997), and Robert Dansby (1944-WWII), sister-in-law, Nyla (Richard) Dansby  (1984), and brother-in-law Carl (Norma) Harter (1976).

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Williamston Chapel.

Carol Ruth Kendrick-Kuch PDF Print E-mail

Carol Ruth Kendrick-Kuch went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 2, 2012. Carol was a wonderful wife, mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

 

She served the Fowlerville Community for many years. She was past President of the Fowlerville VFW and District President of the Woman's Auxiliary. She and her Husband Carl served on the Livingston County Red Cross Disaster Team for 5 years. A celebration of Carol's life will be at Niblack Funeral Home, 1005 East Grand River, Fowlerville on Saturday February 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be on Friday February 10, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at Niblack Funeral Home.

A luncheon will be served at the Fowlerville VFW hall after the 11:00 a.m. service, at 215 Veterans Drive Fowlerville.

Carol is survived by her husband Carl and sons, Stephen, Timothy, Erik, Craig, Philip and their families.

 
Elwood 'Bud' Cole PDF Print E-mail

Elwood E. “Bud” Cole, age 85, of Fowlerville, died Sunday, January 22, 2012.

He was born December 26,1926 in Fowlerville to Rollin and Mildred (Hoffman) Cole.  He was a 1944 graduate of Fowlerville High School. He married Norma M. Bessert on June 26, 1948. Bud was a dairy and crop farmer for his entire adult life. One of his greatest joys was the family farm north of Fowlerville where he moved as a boy and was able to remain for 75 years. He also worked as a tool & die machinist and for the Livingston County Road Commission.

Bud was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Farm Bureau Club. Bud loved to play cards, travel and spend time with family and friends and dance with the sweetheart of his life, Norma. He will be remembered as a kind, soft-spoken man and as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor.

Surviving are his wife: Norma, sons: Don  (Wendy) of Lansing and Bob (Kathleen) of Traverse City, daughter: Sue (Dennis) Morrice of Owosso, grandchildren: Jeremiah Watts, Sarah Watts, Joel Morrice, Jarrod (Lina) Morrice and Derek Cole; and sister: Melva Tomlin of East Lansing.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Diane Greble officiating. Interment took place in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Rene R. DeLaere, age 67, of Fowlerville, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at home.

He was born September 15, 1944 in Holly Ridge, North Carolina to Rene and Wanda (Yockey) DeLaere and married Ilene P. Mullen on August 20, 1966 in Redford Twp.  He served as a photographer in the Air National Guard for 28 years, retired from AT & T after 38 years, was a member of the Livingston County Sheriff Dept. Mounted Division and raised Gordon Setters for 32 years as Karrelene Kennels.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years: Ilene, three children: Karie (Mark) Byers of Fowlerville, Dwayne (Liz) of Whitmore Lake, Daryl (Marie) of Redford Twp., six grandchildren: Kelsey DeLaere, Aaron Monroe, Garth Byers, Dakota Byers, David DeLaere and Lorelei DeLaere, sisters: Juanita Coffey, Sherry (Ed) Hachigian, Debbie Lordy, Michelle Clift and Vickie Schoedler, brothers: Kevin (Liz), Richard (Bonnie) and Randy (Pat), step-mother: Theresa DeLaere and five step-sisters.  He was preceded in death by his brother: Don Wayne Forsythe.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Niblack Funeral Home, Dillingham Liverance Chapel with Pastor Mary Duerksen officiating.   Interment took place in Benjamin Cemetery.

LaVern C. Watters, age 77, of Fowlerville, died at home Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

He was born April 2, 1934 to Anson Russell and Estella (Huff) Watters.  He married Judy McGowan in Fowlerville on July 13, 1963.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and owned Vern’s Service Station in Webberville for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed camping and boating.

Surviving are his wife Judy, son: Russell L. (Rikki) of New Haven, Indiana and daughter: Heidi R. Watters of Howell, three grandchildren: Cameron, Keelyn and Kennedy, sisters: Lorena Zwiernikowski and Velna Hoag.  He was preceded in death by his sister Frances Knoop, two brothers: Frederick and Anson Russell Watters, Jr., half-brother: James Devere and half sister: June Rogers.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Niblack Funeral Home, Dillingham Liverance Chapel with Pastor Mark Wilson of Fowlerville United Brethren in Christ Church officiating. Internment took place in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren hospice or the American Cancer Society.www.niblackfuneralhome.com.

Diane J. Karsnick VanDamme, age 68, of Fowlerville, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

She was born February 27, 1943 in Hamtramck to Stanley and Ann (Zalut) Domanik.  She married Kenneth R. VanDamme and he preceded her in death.  She retired from the State of Michigan as a Telemarketing Supervisor and was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Surviving are four children: Joseph (Stacey) Karsnick of Fowlerville, Diane (Todd) Nelson of Perry, Colleen (Greg Garrison) Karsnick of Fort Worth, Texas and Brian (Brenda Merrill) Karsnick of Webberville, four step-children: Roger VanDamme of Indiana, Mark VanDamme of Lansing, Todd VanDamme of Lansing and Kenneth VanDamme Jr. of San Diego, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and four step-grandchildren, two sisters: Darlene and Denise and brother: Stanley.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Friday January 20, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Fr. Robert McGraw officiating.
