School's nearly over PDF Print E-mail

Ten days left of school. Wow! Believe it or not I am very excited for no more school nights, mornings, lunch money, homework,“Buuuuus!” at 6:50 am. A few weeks into summer I’m sure I’ll be thinking differently.

What’s with LaPlayita closing? Is that building cursed? I’m so glad there is already a sign for something new but I feel like everything that goes in there doesn’t last too long! I do have a great idea for the old Carter Lumber buildings but Joe wasn’t really that excited about it. I tend to have a lot of “great” ideas.

A Little Taste of Summer Vacation PDF Print E-mail

Spring break means we all get a little taste of summer vacation but still need to make it through the end of the school year. We usually don’t do anything too exciting while on spring vacation but this time we not only went to Great Escape in Howell but also a hotel in Okemos. Even though we didn’t travel too far it was fun.

Great Escape is a boy’s dream but may be an adult’s nightmare. I made sure the schools around weren’t on the same schedule because I prefer having a place to ourselves. It worked and the boys spent two hours driving the indoor electric go karts and Daisy spent two hours in the bounce house and wandered around the arcade games pretending to play them. We got to enjoy swimming and hot tub lounging at the hotel and the suite was nice.

Unable to Dodge the Sickness PDF Print E-mail

We weren’t able to dodge the sickness that has swept through. First it hit some of the kids- our own and daycare- then Joe, and finally me. There were so many kids out of school it was unbelievable. I was just getting ready to enjoy the most wonderful weekend ever. We had nothing to do and I mean NOTHING on the calendar. That is so super rare in this house. I figured I would do something super exciting like work on a few sewing/craft projects, (I am a total dork, ok?) do some shopping, maybe go out on a date with Joe, etc.

Well, after falling asleep at what felt like 7:30 on Friday night I woke up Saturday morning and enjoyed a leisurely cup of coffee in bed… and that’s when it started. My throat hurt -then a slight feeling of fever and chills. Within an hour I was laid up on the couch and that’s where I stayed all stinking weekend. It was awful.

Oh happy Christmas vacation! PDF Print E-mail

Oh happy Christmas vacation! There really is nothing more precious than watching your babies sleeping with the glow of the tilting Christmas tree on their faces while you are watching a super cheesy Christmas movie on the Lifetime or Hallmark channel. That truly is the magic of the season. The next morning you see the five year old sleeping half way under the couch and Elf on the Shelf (ours is named Evan Tinkie) didn’t move again last night! Maybe tonight he will fly back to the North Pole and finally report to Santa all the naughty fighting that’s been going on.

This year I am a little more on top of things- I have actually gotten the cards ready (not addressed or mailed), made cookies one day and even made it to Mason to drop off letters at Santa’s big mailbox (which included a picture, again, of kids sticking their smiling faces between Santa’s huge legs). During the holiday season it’s sometimes hard to quiet ourselves and remember what’s really important, but it’s so necessary.

Lotsa Fun in Florida PDF Print E-mail

I know this seems so long ago, but Halloween was so much fun this year. Webberville seemed extra festive with more trick-or-treaters and more houses all decorated and handing out candy. It was a great night.

Well we had a magical family vacation to Disney World, Universal, and other fun in Orlando. The Fuller Express cooperated 100%, and the kids did minimal fighting. It was so wonderful.
