Going to Disney World PDF Print E-mail

Happy Fall Webberville and surrounding friends! We are truly enjoying this weather and the colors and sights that go along with it. Our WJAA boys had a wonderful football season, and our first year of marching band was a success. Next up will be basketball and something new for us – wrestling. Now that we are in the groove with school we have already forgotten the summer days that are long gone -although I am reminded of them from the pictures I just now printed from back in April.

We are trying to focus on a fifth birthday, Halloween, Fall Fest, and all the little appointments and things in between, but I keep looking past that because the Fuller family is going to DISNEY!!!! Joe and I have had this planned for a few months now and just surprised the kids last week with the news.

I had C&J Pizza deliver three pizzas to my house in boxes I had decorated. Inside the lids said, “In four weeks-we are going to-Disney!” I took the idea from one of those Disney commercials. Joe and I were more excited about the unveiling than the kids were. He kept looking out the front door to check if the pizza was here, and I kept pacing back and forth. As soon as we read the boxes I busted out mouse ears and blowers and watched the DVD that was sent to us. I was so happy I never blew it (because I can be a blabber mouth) and now we could talk about it! No more saying our code “The Big D.”

This family has never taken a trip of this magnitude before. Except for some weekends up north and some small trips, we haven’t been gone this long or gone this far together before. Originally we were going to fly the whole family down but that quickly changed when we saw the price tag on that idea. We then decided the Fuller Express is going to have to make the trip. Oh my, we are in for some quality family time! We were also originally going to stay at a resort, but since our family is a little uniquely sized we would have needed two rooms. We decided to stay at a condo off the resort where we can have our own food, washer/dryer, and private pool, etc.

We are absolutely ecstatic to take this trip, but I am a little nervous about the drive. What if we all get the flu? What if we break down and have to find a place to stay in children of the corn land? What if every one of us has to pee and there is no rest area around? What if wild exotic animals take over the Fuller Express? These are all things I am sure anyone would worry about when going on a long trip, but I figure both Joe and I have smart phones….

We have a lot of work to do first such as cleaning the van. Recently, I set my keys on the console and right into a container of ranch. My fault. I really enjoy jalapeno poppers while I am driving. The outside of the van needs some work, too. Ezra wrote “free candy” in the dirt on the side of the van because he and his friends were talking about creeper vans. I remembered this after I drove it through East Lansing with a million people walking by, a few points and laughs, as I was in stop-and-go traffic. This reminds me of one of my favorite shows, The Middle. Ezra and Axl are quite similar and just the other day I found a Lego in a chip bag much like when Frankie found toenails in a chip bag. I know toenails aren’t the same as Legos but I have found some interesting things over the years with four boys. If someone told me 15 years ago that I would think something like this would be funny, I would have never believed them. Now that Ezra and Leo are in the high school and middle school it’s a whole new different kind of fun.

I’ll leave you with this vision – as all the kindergarteners were getting off the bus running and smiling, I noticed Daisy had something around her neck. I thought to myself-that she must have gotten a bandana or something as it’s bouncing up and down as she’s running to me. She gets closer and I notice it was a pair of polka dot underwear around her neck!!! I had packed an extra outfit in her backpack, and there was the extra pair of underwear with her head through one of the leg holes!
