Summer Vacation with my kids PDF Print E-mail
Well my kids are trying to adjust to each other and so am I! At first they wanted to fight ALL day and now they just fight most of the morning! Luckily we have baseball at night to keep them occupied!!
This weekend we will be at the Relay For Life at our awesome track facility. Leo has decided to participate in the Miss Relay where he will dress up as a gorgeous girl and collect money in his purse for the cause. Can't wait to see that! I am on my mom's team called Concession Obsession. I will be working at the concessions through the night. It should be a fun time and of course a great cause.
I have to put a story in here from last summer. Joe was working up north for months at a time and I was babysitting. It was such a hard summer for me...
It all started when the boys had Lance bring over his live trap to catch bunnies and racoons, etc. They set it and in the morning Lance and Oscar go out to check it. They come running back in out of breath yelling it's a baby skunk!!! I'm thinking - oh crap. What am I gonna do?? So I make sure to keep the kids in the house and think about what to do. In the meantime I talk to Thomi and she says if they are baby's they shouldn't spray. Just cover the cage with a dark blanket and let it out.
So I am thinking "OK I can handle that." I wait until naptime and the big boys and I gather our supplies and make a plan of action. I have a sheet and we are going to tip toe to the cage. I will cover it up and Lance will release the latch and pepi la pue will just wander out unharmed and be reunited with the wild. So we are walking slowly, quietly, and I have the sheet stretched out. We get closer and closer and I realize that sucker is no baby! It's taking up the whole cage. I yell "that's not a baby! Run!" We run yelling and then end up on the porch cracking up at ourselves. I get everyone inside and just figure Uncle Brian will have to take care of it. A little while later i hear a lawn mower.
That meant that Paul was at the hall to mow the lawn. I forgot to say that the skunk in the trap is out in the hall yard and not our own. So I run out there with my arms waving and tell Paul that there is a skunk in a trap so you might not want to go by it. He says "I'll go get my gun." So about the time the kids wake up from their nap paul returns with this gun which turns out to be a pistol. All the kids run out there to see and paul shoots it 3 times. Paul is jumping back as the skunk is spraying and the kids are covering their ears and I am thinking wow! Isn't this a great daycare activity!! Everyone thought is was cool and just about then a dad is here to pick up his kids and he's like "what's with the strong skunk smell?" It was crazy!!!
I'll leave you with this vision - Little Daisy now needs glasses and patching for a lazy eye. 4 out of 5 of my kids has or had a lazy eye! We picked out little pink Fisher Price toddler glasses with little pink curvy ear pieces! Sooo cute. Next week we pick them up!

“Grant me patience to deal with my blessings!”

Bye for now!
