Fuller's Scouts PDF Print E-mail

Fuller Scouts (also known as Scout A Rama) started 3 years ago when Ezra and Leo begged me to join Boy Scouts and I wouldn’t let them. What a mean, awful, thoughtless, evil mom I was! To make it up to my underprivileged children who are so deprived, my mom (also known as Franma) came up with the idea to make our own Boys Scouts. They soon had Aunt Mo as their scout leader. She made a homemade Care Bear blanket and auctioned it off to raise money for crafts and events. She had them earn their first badge called Citizen Comfort. They earned that badge by massaging her feet, feeding her grapes, fanning her with a corn stalk and bringing her drinks on the deck! Soon after that she used the scout money to buy school lunches or something at the mall. She was fired as a scout leader after that.

My mom’s cousin in Indiana offered to do a scouts weekend at his house. He went to Salvation Army and found the perfect scout outfit but all he could find to decorate the outfit were daisies so now he is known as Ranger Daisy and his wife is Mrs. Daisy.

This year we were afraid Fuller Scouts wouldn’t happen. A few weeks ago Ranger Daisy was drinking his morning coffee naked and was bit by a bat in the butt. This bat happened to be rabid. He was quite a hit at the clinic where he received a series of rabies shots. Thank goodness he was all better!!!

We go to scouts weekend and camp, walk the trails through the woods, make smores, run through the bubble machine, and tell scary stories around the fire. This year Ranger Daisy conducted a glass making workshop (heating glass bottles over the fire late at night into vases and such). The kids also had shrinky dink medallions that they decorated and added to beaded necklaces - thanks to Franma who is always so darn crafty!

Around the fire after the ghost stories were told the conversation soon turned to what it ALWAYS does … farts. Ezra predicted the wind was coming from the west and the forecast was “partly sharty” The weekend was great fun.

Daisy’s little glasses don’t fit her right. I need to get her a different pair. She did have them on one day as we were getting ready for a party but right before we left we couldn’t find them. Joe said he thought he saw them on the table. We didn’t find them until later that night ….they were in the fridge!

I have quite an impressive vintage Fisher Price collection. When I discovered eBay I found lots of goodies I just had to have. I have almost every building and accessory from the 60’s and 70’s. The boys were never interested in them when they were little. Now that the boys are older they will sometimes play with them. Just tonight they had Monopoly money and were buying the buildings and property from each other. Abram had a used car lot and Leo had the Sesame Street building. Ezra had the castle and Oscar had a barn. Leo told me his guy was named Gibby and the girl was named Kate and they had 8 kids. They were going to be called Gibby & Kate plus 8!

This next week we have two birthdays. Leo turns the big 10 and that means a friends party with a sleepover. He told me last week he wants the party to be The Price is Right. How awesome is that?? All this week we have had to watch it and research it and I have found some awesome websites. One had every game ever played on the show with a picture and descriptions. The other has just about every television tune you could image. There were about 20 tunes for The Price is Right including the ‘come on down” tune and the cliffhanger yodeling. It is going to be such a cool party!!!

I’ll leave you with this vision – Daisy got into my super long lasting still on your lips when you wake up lipstick the other night. She put a nice coat on of some lovely maroon before bed and came out of my bedroom the next morning with bed head and lipstick all around her lips!

“Grant me patience to deal with my blessings!”

Bye for now!
