My new favorite show is Malcolm In The Middle. Probably because we don’t have any cable but also because it is real close to what goes on around here. I used to think that mom was crazy and mean but Ezra and I were watching it last night and we were cracking up. My boys aren’t that extreme but Ez and I were comparing each of the boys on the show with our family and there were a lot of similarities!! The other show I have discovered since we don’t have cable is The Vicar of Dibley on PBS. I have seen one episode and it was so funny I went right to Blockbuster online and put the whole series in my queue! I feel guilty about this, but as I was walking through Target I came across the most wonderful sight ever. There they were…. school supplies. “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” I literally started jumping up and down when I saw this. Not only because back to school time is almost around the corner, but because I really do like school supplies. Yes I do have the countdown going until that first day back (4 ½ weeks to be exact) and I do feel guilty about that but I can’t help it.
I put Daisy in a time out in my room and she was so quiet I thought … oh good she must have fallen asleep! I peeked in to check on her. I have this beautiful vinyl expression that says “dream” in cursive above my bed and there she was peeling it off. It now says “Dean” in perfect cursive!! What is that supposed to mean?? How funny and weird.
Here's a little story about the first week of school last fall. My sweet Osci who loved school last year was not too excited to start this year. The first day he said really didn't want to go, but he got up and got ready no problem. Well either the second or third day he was saying he really didn't want to go. Well he got his backpack on no problem, his sweat shirt on, but didn't want to put on his shoes. So the bus pulls up - they get picked up at the hall which is kinda a walk-and Oscar is kinda crying about going. I am shoving his shoes on and saying the bus is here! You have to go! I get him out the door and he is stomping and walking in the opposite direction. I'm saying hurry up! Everyone is waiting!! By this time the bus is sitting with its doors open and a car waiting behind it! I am starting to panic. I have never had a kid refuse to get on the bus and not care that it is sitting waiting for him. I finally had to grab his arm and drag him across the field and set him on the bus.
Mind you I am in my jammies, no shoes or bra on and there are now 2 cars waiting behind the bus and probably high schoolers laughing at me. I said sorry Mrs bus driver- I have never had to do this before putting a kid on the bus in pj's. She said that's ok but Oscar you have to get on because your making people late for work!! I felt so sad that he didn't want to go so I called his teacherl to see how he was doing and she said he was a little teary eyed but he was fine. I guess there were a lot of teary eyed kids that first few days. I also called Mrs. bus driver to see how he was on the route. She said he sat there with a pissed off look on his face but he was fine. After those first few days he was perfectly happy and loves school!
I’ll leave you with this vision – Daisy was dumping out her diaper bag and said “where’s my damn lipstick?”
“Grant me patience to deal with my blessings!”
Bye for now!
