Does anyone want to buy a house? PDF Print E-mail

Does anyone want to buy a house? Haha.. we just had our 29th showing today. The house has been on the market for over 1 ½ years now and I never ever imagined that this would happen. 2 price drops and 1 kind of offer later, here we are! Having my house on the market has been an emotional roller coaster. EVERY time I have a showing I just can’t help thinking… maybe this is the one! I know I shouldn’t but do. I go to realtor.com to see what’s new this week and I imagine my things in a different house and how I would decorate it and of course where I would put my Christmas tree! The first 20 showings I would go crazy and put the barrels of dirty laundry in the back of the vehicle, take all but 2 chairs from my kitchen table in the basement, bake cookies so the smell would lure in buyers… well now after so many I pick up and vacuum and figure they’ll notice the family picture on the wall and see that we have 5 kids!!

Here’s the thing about my house. We have completely and totally outgrown it. When we bought this house in 1999 I was very pregnant with Leo (#2) and to us it felt like a mansion. We were living in an apartment for a couple of years and this was our adorable and exciting first home. 10 years and 3 more kids later the house is busting at the seams and I had to get creative. We now have a set of bunk beds in the laundry room. It’s “cozy” and the boys don’t mind! Me on the other hand feel like I am suffocating most of the time. I know I need to look on bright side and be thankful for what I have and I really try too.. It’s just hard in the summer. At least we still have our house in these tough times. I also have to tell myself that the reason it isn’t selling is because it’s not priced at $35,000 or something ridiculously low and not because it looks like the house on Malcolm In the Middle!!!

My sister (who is moving back to Webberville… yeah) and I went to Okemos to wander around the mall. It was so nice to just walk around without kids and look at all the awesome clothes and people watch! We were totally bombarded not once but twice at candle/smelly stores.. Yankee Candle and then Bath and Body Works store. We couldn’t believe they were trying so hard. Must be low sales because I have never had a candle jar lid shoved in my face so many times!! After that we went to Target and walked around for about an hour and went to check out and we had absolutely nothing in our cart. It was awesome!! This is something I have never done before! We purchased nothing and still felt fulfilled. Thank you Financial Peace University and Dave RamseyJ

We had our annual corn roast at my mom and dads. Every year we have a raffle to raise money for the family calendar that comes out - yes my family is that big and that’s just my mom’s side! This year’s prizes didn’t disappoint! I won a fantastic pair of bud light flip flops worn by my great aunt in the 70’s. Corn roast prizes are famous. The corn was delicious, as always, roasted over the fire by my dad and then dunked into butter jars. Yum! The corn roast was originally held at my great uncles house and now it has been taken over by my parents.

We went to Old County Buffet for the first time in 6 months.. We haven’t taken the kids out to eat in ages so this was a real treat!! There’s just something about a buffet that every one of us enjoys! You don’t have to wait, you can eat all you want, you can choose what you want, I don’t have to clean up a thing, and everyone is happy!! On the way to OCB we were remembering when Oscar and Abe were little and we would go. Oscar was such a crazy boy (still is!) and wouldn’t sit still anywhere or behave. Well he happened to be scared of the O C Bee. This was a man in a bee costume that would walk around the restaurant and pass out balloons. Well little Oscar sat right in his highchair and did not move!! He would scan the place at all times to see if the bee was coming. It worked so well that even when the O C Bee wasn’t there we would tell him that we thought we saw him coming out of the kitchen. We are sooo bad!!! I don’t think he’s too scarred from it.

Well I’m off to a ladies four day scrapbook weekend at a bed and breakfast. Can’t wait!!!!

I’ll leave you with this vision – Daisy had a frog on the porch and put it in a stroller and was giving it a ride.

“Grant me patience to deal with my blessings!”

Bye for now!
